Stadium arcadium is often overlooked because it wasn't up to the standards of the RHCP's golden years, but if you look at is as just another album, it's actually pretty fucking good.

The two disks start to finish are a good way to murder a long journey.

Stadium Arcadium is my favorite album ever and is one of the few albums where I feel like practically every song is absolutely amazing. The fact that Dani California, Snow, and Tell Me Baby are basically the only songs that got radio time makes me feel bad for the rest of the brilliance of the album. Is it different from their vintage sound? Sure, but I don't see that as a bad thing. Their ability to come out with a completely different style shows their versatility and talent.

I don't know, the Stadium Arcadium/By The Way mix is what got me into RHCP. Even after listening their other albums (which I loved as much as these) I still like these two.

I've always thought stadium arcadium had a lot of the old chili peppers sound. Listen to "Storm in a Teacup" and "Turn it again" and tell me it's not the fat funky RHCP sound you know and love.

I am not sure the album is overlooked as such (but maybe slightly compared to their earlier albums as you say) - but it is ironic that the most popular hits like Dani California and Tell me Baby are just drops in the ocean of musical brilliance that constitutes this two-disc wonder.

Good album with some awesome songs. The only reason I "liked" but not "loved" it was that it feels like the band just hit a certain formula with song writing and just put them through mass production. The album was just a little more shallow than some of their previous efforts. But still solid piece of work.

Musically, SA is so good. I mean maybe its no BSSM but definitely a contender for my RHCP #2. Frusciante and Flea and Chad Smith go insane, as usual. I feel like Kiedis kind of skates by on it compared to his material from say, the 90s.

Overlooked? First time I've ever heard that... Stadium Arcadium has some of their best songs and is still my favorite album from my favorite band.

Yeah man I bought it when it came out and relistened to it a while back. It blew me away how good it is. Of course nothing could be as good as bssm or calofornication but iy is still an amazing album.

I read that Flea wrote this song to propose to his wife. Great track, thanks for posting.

Almost. It was written by Kiedis for Flea because Flea had found the woman he loved, his fiance Frankie Rayder. Just thought you should know. Also Kiedis said in an interview about the album that it is all written about Love from different aspects.

Love this album and all of their stuff. My favourite band, hands down.

The same night my SO and I started dating...we were driving home from the diner he asked me out at, at 2AM. He played this song through one of those old tape-to-CD player thingys, and told me that ever since he first heard that song he always knew he wanted to play it for the woman he loved. I was 18, it was nearly four years ago. And now, this song is going to be our first dance at our wedding.

The song is very atmospheric with John's guitar fading in and out during the verses. I like Chad's drumming throughout the song; he maintains a pretty steady and upbeat drum pattern, then at the way end (4:50) during John's solo, Chad does half-time and it settles into its own cool groove.

Then the bridge! Flea's bass playing with roots and fifths makes it very calm and soothing while John continues to chirp in and out with guitar.
